Afghan Missions installation and navigation

There have been many questions on the installation and usage of these sceneries. We will attempt to address some of the more common ones. Many simply ask "How do I get myself into the sceneries?" As you may or may not know Flight Simulator 2002 arranges scenery in a similar fashion to Combat Flight Simulator 2. With the addition of Planesimulations new and borrowed effects (NOVA) a new element exists which also needs addressing.

The Correct Placement
First and foremost the correct placement of folders within Flight Simulator is paramount. We stress that the new folders for these sceneries must go into the FS2002\scenery folder NOT FS2002\ADDON_SCENERY. This way the sceneries are placed in a logical manner that FS2002 can understand (Dynamic scenery). The rest of this tutorial will assume that you have unpacked the .zip or .exe file and have the folders placed into the above mentioned Flight Simulator 2002 folder.

Adding the Scenery

The above image shows us after Starting Flight Simulator 2002 going directly to the Scenery Library.

Adding the Scenery 2

After selecting the Scenery Library we are faced with a screen that displays and manages the Scenery, both add-on and default. If you look at the image you'll see that Add area is highlighted. You should click that to begin.

Adding the Scenery 3

After clicking Add area we are presented with a typical windows selection box. We see all the subfolders for FS2002 in there but what we need to select is Scenery where we placed all those new folders. See how Directory in the above image is empty.

Adding the Scenery 3

Now we have selected the scenery folder that contains our new scenery. But we are not done yet! See how in the above image the Directory only says FS2002\scenery.

Adding the Scenery 4

Now, the above image shows we have selected the first of the folders to be added. You will need to do this for all 6. Note: The Directory now says FS2002\scenery\Anaconda
Click OK after selecting each one. They will then show up in the list. After adding all of them click OK again and Flight Simulator will go through the process of generating the scenery information it needs to display it.

Selecting the scenery 1

The first screen in regards to selecting the scenery will be the Create A Flight screen as shown above. You need to click Change under Current Location to find your new sceneries.

Selecting the scenery 2

The common thing for people to do is to try and locate the scenery through the normal way i.e.. Search places. Quite often you will not find the scenery in this manner or the default listing will take you nowhere. The above image shows how to correctly access your Add-on scenery. When you click that little radio button voila! There they are.

We hope this helped and do contact us with any questions you may have.
