Overview
Ever want to fly a simulated mission in a B-52? Look no further! Planesimulation has put together a full package for a Bomb run in Flight Simulator 2002. New sounds, panel, TRGD(Targeting Director), effects and SAM scenery come with this unique add-on. The AI and "Hard Shell" Sams are capable of knocking you down if you have crash enabled as you make a run down SAM alley toward your target.

Andersen AFB flyover

Targeting Director (TRGD)
The targeting director guides you with precision toward your mission goal.

As the sceneries become more complex more "friendly zones" will be active on the TRGD.

Your first mission
The first mission places you at PGUA Andersen AFB. Inside the package is a Flightplan created by us(read install instructions within)to start you on your way to Afghanistan. You need to setup an initial situation with the B-52H as your aircraft and B52miss1 as your flightplan. After that you can "slew" yourself to an appropriate park/taxi-out point. You'll notice that the TRGD has inputs for your Bomb run. Read the notes portion from the FS2002 menu Aircraft >>Kneeboard >>notes section and it'll fill you in on the classified information you need to know. Run through the "SHIFT + 1", "SHIFT +2", "SHIFT +3" etc.. on you keyboard to get yourself familiar with the onboard systems. The aircraft bomb-bay doors will open by pressing "L" on the keyboard and you release the bombs by pressing "I" on the keyboard. Your payload is not armed untill you're over the target area. Read more below about your bombrun.

Drop effects bombs over target

The Bomb run(getting it right)
The first phase of the bomb run is getting there. Load the flightplan we provided (see image below)you'll find yourself sitting ready to go at Andersen AFB on 6R.

Like any flightplan
The flightplan is not unlike any other you may have flown except your cruise altitude is 49,000ft. Follow the plan toward the targets. You can certainly edit the flightplan to a lower flight level if you wish just try to stay above 30,000ft!

Target Scenery
The target and SAM sceneries are connected to the mission(like a game within the simulation)and your TRGD. The bombs you are dropping today are conventional "dumb" bombs. They are armed as you fly over the target scenery. This is a safety pre-caution that for obvious reasons is very important.

Descend to FL300 before you reach OAFZ(in your flightplan) As you approach OPWN(in your flightplan and your TRGD) you will have already encountered SAM missile activity and will want to arm your TRGD. Maintain FL300, your target will be marked in green and you will direct the aircraft toward it from OPWN. Range in the target making sure you have it aligned on the TRGD. As you see in the image we are directly over the target TARG but a bit to the left.

Bomb switches and procedure
The bomb bay doors and release switches are located on the main panel above the HSI. The switch to the far right opens the bay doors. The middle switch closes them. The Switch to the far left release the bombs. As you hit the release switch press (I) on your keyboard once. As you hit the close bomb bay doors press (I) on your keyboard once more.

After release circle around if you wish to view the target area.
