amphibious WASP class assault ship - Flight Deck

The airbase at Diego Garcia now dubbed "Camp Justice" currently serves B-1 and B-2 Stealth Bombers along with B-52s as well as support aircraft like the Orion and KC-135 refeuling tankers. Normally the island is home to about 1,700 military personnel and 1,500 civilian contractors. The island is used jointly by the Navy and the Air Force. Though the Navy contingent is larger, the Air Force does the flying.
The control tower pictured here with a WASP class ship in the distance is crafted from inside to out in GMAX.

WASP class ships are the first to be specifically designed to accomidate the AV-8B Harrier jump jet and the LCAC hovercraft, along with the full range of Navy and Marine helicopters, conventional landing craft and amphibious assault vehicles to support a Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) of 2,000 Marines. The ships also carry some of the most sophisticated communications, command and control capabilities afloat, alongwith state of the art electronic systems and defensive weaponry.
