An integrated shelter, structure, utilities/utility interfaces, and environmental control subsystem(s) using existing commercial hardware and equipment to provide an Extra Large Deployable Aircraft Hangar System (XLDAHS). The XLDAHS shall provide for a system that is air transportable, affordable, durable, easy to erect, maintain, and function at worldwide locations.



Diego Garcia is a British territory mostly populated by the US military, the British colony that’s been colonised by the Americans. Normally the island is home to about 1,700 military personnel and 1,500 civilian contractors. But only about 50 troops are British. The island is used jointly by the Navy and the Air Force. Though the Navy contingent is larger, the Air Force does the flying.

The B-1B's electronic jamming equipment, infrared countermeasures, radar location and warning systems complement its low-radar cross-section and form an integrated defense system for the aircraft. The swing-wing design and turbofan engines not only provide greater range and high speed at low levels but they also enhance the bomber's survivability. Wing sweep at the full-forward position allows a short takeoff roll and a fast base-escape profile for airfields under attack. Once airborne, the wings are positioned for maximum cruise distance or high-speed penetration.
