PS Panels

Microsoft's FS9 ships with many new weather enhancements over it's predecessor FS2002. The folks at weather-maker have started the process all over again with new additions to their program. TweakFS

GMAX Abrams M1-A1 V2
In his book "Desert Victory - The War for Kuwait", author Norman Friedman writes that "The U.S. Army in Saudi Arabia probably had about 1,900 M1A1 tanks. Its ability to fire reliably when moving at speed over rough ground (because of the stabilized gun mount) gave it a capability that proved valuable in the Gulf. The Abrams tank also has vision devices that proved effective not only at night, but also in the dust and smoke of Kuwaiti daytime.

Roy Chaffin and his Flight Simulator add-ons team have given one of the best efforts at aircraft design for FS2002 yet with their B-25J release. Roy says "This team has literally been working around the clock for months to get it completed." Mr. Chaffin also added that it is ready for download today, all 52MB of it! Dive Bomb 1000lbs
Starting the year with a bang we at Planesimulation have put together a little FS2002 weapons package(which makes 11) for classic fighter-bombers. The best example of such a bird is the F4U-1A Corsair the Navy's workhorse throughout the 40's and early 50's.

Browning Spitfire 0.303
Weapons pack #10 for FS2002 arms the Supermarine Spitfire with browning 0.303 cannons. Though the guns were shorter in range than the Luftwaffe's Bf-109 the Spitfire proved more than capable of taking out anything the Germans could muster.

Browning 7.7mm

Gunship 105mm Cannon
During the Viet Nam war twenty-eight C-130s were converted to side-firing gunships, primarily for night attacks against ground targets. The result of such concentrated firepower overwhelmed dug-in enemy positions and the added element of surprise earned it the nickname "Spooky". Close Air support
Take yourself back to the start of the 'Ten thousand Day War' and strap on a fully armed F-4 Phantom. The F-4 with it's agility and tremendous climb power was well suited to delivering the infamous Napalm weapons system. An Army/Navy pilot would 'roll in' on ground selected targets and use tracers to cover his dive and mark the target for the next Pilot. FlightGear 0.7.10
As an open-source, multi-platform, cooperative flight simulator development project FlightGear has made available the 0.7.10 upgrade, which includes a number of fixes and new additions. With this release, subsystems have been designed for FS2002 ATC and weather. Basic virtual cockpits for both the Cessna 310 and 172 are avalible, as well as enhanced 3D moving parts.

Microsoft has released the SDK for the AI Traffic database. Utilizing the Traffic Database Builder one can replace the default traffic database that ships with FS2002 . By altering the database you can customize air traffic routes and schedules to match real airline schedules, add realistic regional traffic and congestion associated with any large Int'l airport.

SDK for map displays
Aeroplanner.com has made available an ActiveX Control for displaying downloaded charts. Now you can have geo-referenced maps in your application.This ActiveX (OCX and DLL) control can be used with Visual Basic, C++, and Delphi to develop a variety of Flight Simulator add-ons from moving maps, GPS interfaces, panel mounted navigation devices and planning programs.

Wilco published the latest patch for 767 Pilot In Command on their web site. The patch allows PIC767 to now run with MS Flight Simulator 2002, along with several other new features and improvements.

The Flight Online

Virtual Coast Guard

What to do, what to do? If that's the question you find yourself asking as you line up your super shiny and reflective heavy with the runway, there is relief. Veteran simmers will say "I've landed a couple thousand airliners in every condition possible and it doesn't change. Just whip up a flight plan point your nose in a direction and go, that's flying." Ever want to tell the tower to honk on Bobo? "I'm takin' off anyway!" Flight Simulator is about the fun you can have too and FS2002 has much more to offer, when you’re ready of course. One site we really enjoyed visiting was a great respite from all this lining up business. Virtual Coast Guard has some provided some updates for their fleet, couple that with the new effects available in the FS2002 scenery engine and you've got some cruising to do!
