100 years of flight - Canada
As we all know the Wright brothers set the record for the first powered flight of an aerocraft in the United States. Nonetheless, in 1909 on a clear and cold February day a Canadian team with Alexander Graham Bell at the reins did not only break the Wright Brothers first record but pushed the envelope far and beyond the projected outcome. Over the lakes of Bras d'Or with JA Douglas McCurdy at the controls the Dart flew nearly two kilometers at an altitude of 11 Meters with an average speed of 65 Km/h.
