Micro Flight 5
Micro Flight
advises us that the updated version of
this "light" flight simulator program
now has an excellent flight model and
great cockpits with VFR and IFR instruments.
New flight models were added with new
support for wind layers, night objects,
accurate DTM and scenery objects. All
of this makes Micro Flight a most valuable
general purpose flight simulator.

FS
Global 2005 Editor
With this program
you can conveniently activate or deactivate
layers in your FS2004 scenery library
(scenery.cfg or newscenery.cfg) from outside
FS2004. The big advantage of this program
is that it is intelligent and will edit
correctly, even if after a change of scenery
library you haven't restarted your FS
yet.

TweakFS "Journey to the Center of the Earth" Challenge
Last time we had a serious IFR challenge, a non-precision approach with a custom-recorded ATC adventure into a busy LA airport. This time we thought we'd depart from serious flying and have a little fun, taking advantage of an anomaly in the FS2004 default terrain mesh.
TweakFS is awarding a free copy of the TweakFS Utility Collection CD-ROM to whoever can fly the deepest into a hole created by a spike that is found in the FS2004 default mesh in Guyana, South America. Believe it or not but it takes a bit of concentration to fly straight down and not hit the sides of the abyss. An altitude of over (or under!) negative 100,000 has been previously achieved!

South African Virtual
In the 19th edition of South African Virtual Pilot, we review to excellent aircraft and two handy utilities. Australia Winter Textures
Raud Faber writes; This new package of more than 400 repainted ground textures for the Australia & New Zealand contains both normal winter and hard winter textures for use in Microsoft's Flight Simulators 2002 and 2004. Your entire landscape will be transformed. The new FScene2004 textures are simply spectacular. With no impact on FPS, you will see a world that is more colorful, more three dimensional and more realistic than ever before.
